Carry your baby in the winter

We are often asked whether you can carry your baby in a sling or baby carrier in winter. And, above all, what is the best way to do this. Time for a blog on this topic! With these tips, you can enjoy a wonderful winter walk together.

Nothing like getting out and about with your little one on a frosty but sunny day. But of course you don't want your child to get cold. No worries! With a few small adjustments, you can both enjoy it. There's no need to take the sling out of the dust in the spring!

This is how to carry your baby in winter

Let's start by saying that there is not just one right way to carry your baby with you in winter. The most important thing is to check regularly with your child to make sure the temperature is right. If your child feels warm in the neck you have wrapped your child a little too thickly and it is better to take off a layer.

Clothing baby in the sling

In general, the baby sling acts as an extra layer of clothing for your baby. But when it's really cold, it's wise to put a cardigan on your child and then put them in the sling. Don't forget a hat and warm booties or shoes.

Does your child already sleep in the baby sling and would you still like to go outside? Then a cover (a kind of blanket) is ideal. You pull this over the baby sling or baby carrier like a jacket. You can also use a cover over the car seat or stroller.

Wear under or over the jacket

Do you wear your child over your coat or under it? That's personal. With one coat it is nicer to wear your child under the coat and vice versa. If you wear your child under your coat, your coat probably won't be able to close all the way. You compensate for this with a warm scarf for yourself. Your child will keep the rest of your body nice and warm. For your baby, you can wrap the cover around the sling or carrier for extra warmth.

Our tips

  • Feel regularly if your baby is not feeling too hot or cold
  • Consider a cardigan, hat, and warm shoes or slippers.
  • Wrap a cover or warm scarf around the baby carrier for extra warmth

So, be sure to go out with your baby in winter. You can also read more about how to take your baby outside here.
