Carrying your baby: when to choose which carrying system?
No matter how prepared you are for parenthood, it is only when your child is born that you realize how important your care and presence are to him or her. Safety, security, and warmth are what your newborn baby needs. You can give your baby this by carrying him or her in a baby carrier or sling. This way, you can always have your child close to you while walking the dog, working from home, or running errands.
Your baby will feel safe in a baby carrier, which will help them build confidence to explore the world around them. You will also be able to pick up on your child's changing emotions and respond quickly. But what is the best carrying system for you and your child? Kay Poelen, owner of ByKay Carriers, offers some advice.
ByKay baby carriers can be divided into four categories, all 100% ergonomic and to be used from day one after your baby is born.
There are two types of baby slings, also known as wrap wraps: the ByKay Stretchy Wrap (stretchy) or Woven Wrap (woven, non-stretchy). Both are wraps measuring around four to five meters that need to be tied to create a perfectly snug cocoon for your child. New parents are sometimes a little hesitant about tying a wrap, but it is a lot easier than it looks.
Do you want maximum comfort and a seamless fit to your body? Then choose the organic cotton Stretchy Wrap, which you can use on your stomach and hip. If you need a sturdier wrap that can also be used on your back, the Woven Wrap, made from organic linen, cotton, or soft muslin, is a good choice.
Baby carriers are easier to use than slings: you don't have to tie them, but simply click them into place. Ideal for busy parents who still want to carry their child close to them. The pre-shaped back panel of a baby carrier can be adjusted to the size of your child for a perfect fit. The ByKay Click Classic has an extra strap for this purpose, while the Click Deluxe can be adjusted using drawstrings. A baby carrier can be used not only on the front, but also on the hip and back.
For those who can't choose between a baby carrier or sling, the Mei Tai is the perfect solution. This is a preformed half buckle baby carrier, which you click the waistband closed and then tie yourself. The perfect combination of the comfort of a sling and the convenience of a baby carrier. This carrying system can also be used on the front, hip, and back.
For ultimate convenience, choose the ring sling: minimal effort for quick results. There are two rings at the end of this baby carrier. By threading the other end through these rings, you create an easily adjustable carrier that you can hang over one shoulder. Easy for on the go and for a toddler who likes to stand on their own two feet from time to time.
